These Terms of Use govern your use of Breach Signal (the “site”), operated by Breach Signal (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to these terms, to our Privacy Policy and to the other policies linked below. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
About our content
We use AI tools to research and write our articles, based on information from public sources that are cited in each article (see How we work). Articles go through automated quality checks and fact-checking, but these checks cannot catch every mistake. Articles may contain errors or omissions, may not be fully accurate, complete or current, and may not reflect events that happened after publication. Please check the original sources before relying on anything you read here. How the site works is explained in our Editorial and AI Policy.
No professional advice
Everything on the site is general information only. It is not legal, financial, investment, tax, medical, technical, security or other professional advice, and it does not create any professional or advisory relationship. Do not rely on the site to make decisions about your health, money, legal position, systems, devices or data. In particular, information about software, products, vulnerabilities, threats or fixes may be incomplete or out of date: follow the official guidance of the vendor or authority concerned, test changes before applying them, and consult a qualified professional for advice about your situation. You are responsible for your own decisions and actions.
Using the site
You may read, share links to and comment on the site for lawful purposes. You agree not to:
- break any law, or infringe anyone’s rights, including privacy and intellectual property rights;
- try to gain unauthorized access to the site, its servers or accounts, probe or test it for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or interfere with its operation or security;
- upload or link to malware, phishing pages or other harmful code;
- copy the site’s content in bulk, scrape it with automated tools, or use it to build a database or to train or improve AI models, except for search engines indexing the site and feed readers used as intended, or with our written permission;
- post spam, advertising or content that breaks our Comment Policy;
- pretend to be another person or organization, or suggest that we endorse you or your products.
Intellectual property
The site, its design, text, graphics, logos and other material are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may view and print articles for your own personal, non-commercial use, share links to them, and quote short extracts with a clear credit and a link to the original article. You may not republish whole articles, or substantial parts of them, without our written permission. Our RSS feeds are provided for personal use in feed readers; they may not be republished or used to create another website.
Names, trademarks and logos of other organizations mentioned on the site belong to their owners. Mentioning them does not mean they endorse us or that we endorse them. If you believe something on the site infringes your rights, see our Copyright Policy.
Comments and other content you submit
You are responsible for everything you post or send to us, and you confirm that you have the right to share it and that it does not break the law or these terms. You keep ownership of your comments. By submitting a comment, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, publish, format and distribute it (including through feeds and search engines) in connection with the site, for as long as it remains on the site and for a reasonable period afterwards in backups.
We are not obliged to publish or keep any comment. We may review, refuse, remove or close comments at our discretion, without notice, and may stop people who repeatedly break our rules from commenting. We do not edit comments to change their meaning. Comments reflect the views of their authors, not ours, and we do not verify or endorse them.
Reporting illegal content
If you believe a comment or other content on the site is illegal or breaks these terms, tell us through our contact page (choose “Comment or content report”): include the address of the content, why you believe it is illegal, your name and e-mail address (unless the report concerns child sexual abuse material), and a statement that the report is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge. We review reports promptly and diligently, tell you what we decided, and tell the person who posted the content why it was removed or restricted and how they can challenge the decision. Our point of contact for authorities and for users is breach.signal.ai@gmail.com; we communicate in English.
Third-party links, services and advertising
The site links to sources and other websites, offers buttons that open sharing services, and may show advertising. These are provided for convenience and are run by others. We do not control or endorse them and are not responsible for their content, products, services, availability or privacy practices. Your dealings with them are solely between you and them. Advertisements are labeled and are not part of our editorial content.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and all content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We do not promise that the site will be available, uninterrupted, secure or free of errors, viruses or other harmful components, or that any error will be corrected.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our owners, operators, contributors, service providers and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, business, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or relating to the site, its content, your use of or inability to use the site, or any action you take or decision you make based on it, even if we were told such damages were possible. To the same extent, our total liability for all claims relating to the site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us to use the site in the twelve months before the claim (if any) or 100 US dollars.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud, and nothing affects the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the place where you live. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties or damages to be excluded, so parts of the two sections above may not apply to you.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless us and our owners, operators, contributors and service providers from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of content you submit, your misuse of the site, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or of anyone’s rights.
Changes and termination
We may change, suspend or discontinue all or part of the site at any time, and may restrict or end anyone’s access to it, including the ability to comment, if we believe they have broken these terms or the law. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when they last changed, and the version published here applies from that date. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the site, are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator of Breach Signal is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that jurisdiction have jurisdiction, unless mandatory law of the place where you live gives you the right to rely on its protections or to bring proceedings there. Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the matter informally.
General
These terms, together with the policies they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and us about the site. If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that part will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest will remain in effect. If we do not enforce a right, that is not a waiver of it. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms, for example if the site changes owner. You may not transfer yours without our consent.
