We want Breach Signal to be usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities and people using assistive technology.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We have not had the site formally audited, and some content does not fully meet that standard yet, so we consider the site partially conformant.
What we do
- Pages use clear headings, landmarks and a “skip to content” link, and work with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- Text and controls are designed to meet contrast requirements in both light and dark mode, and pages can be zoomed and reflowed on small screens.
- Images have text alternatives, there is no auto-playing audio or video, and animations respect the “reduce motion” setting.
- Articles can be read without JavaScript, and the site’s page templates are checked with automated accessibility tests whenever its code changes.
Known limitations
- Image descriptions are written automatically and may sometimes be incomplete.
- Websites we link to, sharing services and advertising (if shown) are run by others and may not be fully accessible.
Feedback
